Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development Trust have warmly welcomed the grant from the Scottish Government to continue the important work it is doing in the community in providing breakfast and after school club activities in four local primary schools.
The funding is from the Extra Time Programme, which is a joint initiative between the Scottish Government and the Scottish Football Association.
It helps the ICT Community Development Team to provide free activities both before and after school for children with breakfast clubs daily and after school clubs promoting healthy diet, with fuel for learning, activity before and after school, boosting attainment and attendance.
The team have been active since October 2023 in Bishop Eden’s Primary, Dalneigh Primary, Merkinch Primary and the Inverness Gaelic Primary School (BSGI). The continuation of the Extra Time funding will allow their work to continue for the 2024-25 school session.
Craig Masterton, Community Development Manager, said: “This is great news for the communities we are working in and allows us to build on the very real progress we are making with the pupils in terms of eating more healthily; better attendance and being more alert at the start of the school day. Parents and guardians have more flexibility with work arrangements thanks to the child care being provided free of charge at the start and end of the day."
ICT Community Development Trust is a separate legal entity from the Football Club (ICTFC); the Community Development Trust is entirely self-funded through ongoing grant applications, donations and our football training programmes.
